Dear all,
Hi, it's reckless me again with another injury story to tell. Let me walk you through what happened last night.
I was back in my room at 9.30pm after a delicious chicken rice dinner with Fui Yen and Cath in Clementi. Being stingy on the drinks and after losing body fluid from the long walk back, I was thirsty. So, happily I reached for my jug of water. But before I even got a hold of it, ARK... I turned to where I was hurting and I saw lots n lots of blood gushing out from my leg.In a state of shock, I wondered why? Then, after a few seconds my brain could function again and I found the culprit. My very super sharp knife was lying at the corner of my shelve. How stupid of me to have left it there!
I knew I couldn't handle it alone, so I called my resident assistant (RA). She wasn't around but she called my resident fellow (RF) for me. I positioned myself on the floor, grabbed some tissue and covered my wound to stop the bleeding. Then suddenly Fui Yen called me on the phone and I think I mumbled to her that I had just cut myself... and then my RF knocked on my door. I asked her in, she saw my cut and and said that I needed stitches. "I need what!" Gosh... I tried to reason with her that I'll be fine (another stupid thing that I did) coz I didn't want to go to the hospital. I just didn't understand the magnitude of what was going on.
Well, in the end, she won and she drove me to NUH. The sign in the waiting room reads "Please be prepared to wait for 2-3 hours". *faint* ok... I really want to go back. At the registration counter, I told the lady that I may not need stitches so she asked me to see the nurse to check. Well, I do need stitches. My RF went back coz she needed to work the next day. Thank God, my RA came at 12.30 am to wait with me. Her presence was really comforting b'coz ... psst *I'm actually afraid of stitches coz I've never got one before and I'm scared of pain*.
The doctor saw me at 2am. I waited for 4 super long hours!! I admit that I was getting really impatient waiting that time.... Well, I must really really really really thank God that my RA was with me. Else, I'd have got out of my seat and ran away from the hospital with blood dripping all over...
Okay, anyway, I got local anesthesia so the whole stitching part actually didn't hurt. I've got a 5cm long cut and 7 stitches on my left leg now. But overall, I think the Tetanus jab on my left arm hurt the most.
I'm fine now actually. It's just a bit inconvenient when I have to bathe. I'll be going back to work tomorrow. Thanks for all the sms-es!
Take good care of your body yeah people!!!
Love,
Ivy
