tooth testimony

had a root canal (remove the nerves from the tooth..exposed nerves cause pain...why exposed? tooth has very deep cavity) done back home. was praying about whether i should go back or not because having so many tests and projects. struggling, as well...finally, God spoke that i should go back. And that night, i packed my bag to go home the next morning...

had many sleepless nights and little sleep, but i'm thankful to be able to wake up early. at times, my early lessons were sacrificed because i was too tired to wake up. the pain leaves in the morning..hehe...you know what? i'm also thankful and surprised at the sense of humor God gave me during the pain.

so, immediately after arriving in KL, dad took me to see Dr. Tong, his uni friend...and an amazing inspiring dentist. I had my operation that day...Dr. Tong discovered that my tooth had a crack down to the exposed nerve. Ouch!

it was a good "op".
..i learnt to trust God. whom else could i hope in and cling on to sitting on that reclined chair and noticing the drills...

...i learnt to trust Dr. Tong and place myself in his hands for that time being..was quite scared actually..then, i felt like sleeping towards the end. :) being cheerful and smiley helps..hehe..and i realized when i'm relaxed, it helps the dentist too.

don't think i'll find a dentist as patient, generous, kind, gentle as him. who filled my mouth with anaesthesia (3 times injected i think), made sure i could feel no pain before he drilled into me, measured my nerve more than 2 times to ensure almost my whole nerve had been removed, who was highly sensitive to when i flinched in pain, who put it on his tab (free).

If I were a dentist, i would want to be like him. but i'm not. i'm a psychologist.hahaha...he makes his patients smile, makes dental check-ups as pain-free as possible, uses more time (time=next patient=money) just to be careful, and understands the patients.

Instead of doing it quick, inject once and drill straight into the teeth whether the pain was still there or not, and still get paid the same...

supposed to go for another round of nerve removal (the 0.01mm leftover) and filling next tues..but i can't because i have classes..have to wait till next month. i'm worried i might get an infection, or the temporary filling he did might come out, or something...dad says i shouldn't be so concerned about it...yea..

anyway, i had a great time back home too, with my parents...alone in my room, spending time with God...He used this to draw me to Him.

our cheesecake making session

after ivy's godly inspiring post, i'm going to talk about food. :)

did you know?
cheesecake is believed to have originated from ancient Greece. First recorded mention of cheese cake was in 776 BC as being served to athletes during the first Olympic Games.

(in case you think i'm very free to go find this nonsense thing, i am doing a presentation on cheese for my communications module)

hehe..ok.. back to our famous cheesecake: (not exaggerating)

see the unprofessional apparatus? hehe...no mixing bowl, no whisk, messy fingers...eh, i never knew cheesecake was so finger-licking good..(winks at ivy)

did the base taste a little salty? hehe...some sweat went into it. weizi's happy grinding the digestives

arms were strengthened, muscles were bulging, hands were oily and hurting, and mouth was eating :P ivy was our no.1 mixer. no whisk! got 2 forks and strong arms! hehe

can you believe how smooth it is??!! 4 packets of philadelphia cheese!!

voila! it looks so good. although (teehee) we were watching gilmore girls and left it to turn brown in the oven. doesn't the centre look like chocolate filling? waijin! you missed it! :<
ivy said there are too many pics of her. we're so happy with our first ever baked cheesecake! (though ivy has had experience in chilled cheesecake)

haha! the middle sank in. science..

let's hear some critics' reviews:

"of all the cheesecakes i've ever tasted, this is the best" - Debbie Hong
"would you think of opening your own bakery?" - Uncle Roy
"this tastes even better than ___ bakery" - Margaret Lai

oh, Fuiyen mentioned she used this recipe to win Melvin's heart.. :)

Rest

Life can be tiring and stressful for most of us here in Singapore. However, let us not be trapped in the busyness of social and work obligations, but let's learn to rest in the Lord and in all His promises for us.
(You can learn from the girl in the pic... hehe)

Help me God,
To realize
it is in being crippled that I learn to cling,
and in limping that I learn to lean,
that victory comes not in how courageously I struggle
but in how completely I surrender,
and that this is how I am to grow,
by being defeated,
decisively,
by constantly greater things.
Help me to understand that Your power is perfected in weakness,
so that when I am rendered weak,
You are given the opportunity to be shown strong.
- Ken Gire's book, Windows of the Soul -

And he said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness". Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
- 2 Corinthians 12:9-10

Be strong and of a good courage, fear not, nor be afraid of them: for the LORD thy God, he it is that doth go with thee; he will not fail thee, nor forsake thee. - Deut 31:6

Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. - Psalm 37:4

The LORD is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvation, and my high tower. - Psalm 18:2

By Andrew Murray (missionary):

If any are inclined to despond, because they do not have such patience, let them be of good courage. It is in the course of our feeble and very imperfect waiting that God Himself, by His hidden power, strengthens us and works out in us the patience of the saints, the patience of Christ Himself.

Seek not only the help, the gift, seek Himself; wait for Him. Give God His glory by resting in Him, by trusting Him fully, by waiting patiently for Him. This patience honors Him greatly. It leaves Him, as God on the throne, to do His work. It yields self wholly into His hands. It lets God be God.

Fellowship TIme in Ivy's Room at Kuok Foundation at 4pm

Yoohoo girls...

Thanks Ivy for the idea to start our exercise regime together! ahhaha..cannot just keep talking and not doing anything about it!.Alrite, please bring your swimming suit along yea tomorrow.;). You will definitely enjoy yourself cos' Ivy is going to show us some acrobatic stunts underwater!..I went to swim with her on Wednesday evening and she taught me how to lie on the floor at the deepest end in swimming pool!..hahha..application of the physic's law - upthrust force vs. gravity:p

Anyway, here is quick update about Joanne! She went back to KL this morning to do her root canal because it has been causing her a few sleepless nights due to the severe pain! She went for dental check-up yesterday and they told her that the operation can costs up to $800!!! (wow..in my mind i was thinking about Yoong Yit's cast which cost her $300 over! ...aha..but this seems much more expensive).
Her operation was scheduled on next Friday. Meanwhile, she needs to be on medication to withstand the pain.

To cut the story short...suddenly she decided to go back home this morning after praying about it last night. And this is her most recent sms to me :
"Did my root canal already. Hehe, I am really blessed for such a gentle family dentist. It was free! Thank u for praying. Will come on Sun...See ya.Take care. Love, Jo"

Wow...amazing rite!!!:)hahha...suddenly i feel like i begin to sound like a reporter.. alrite, c u galz tomorrow!.. (no bikini..just swim suit..:p)
